Disinfectant Cleaner
re using the cage of a hamster that died of wet tail?
our hamster patch died of wet tail 2 days before new years eve, the time has come that we want another little one and we have seen a stunning little cutie in the pet shop
the only problem is we only have patchs cage to use as we cant afford another so heres what i was thinking to do
empty all the old carefresh/bedding
wipe it with safe disinfectant cleaning wipes
let it dry
soak it in hot water
wipe it again with safe wipes
rinse
spray on hamster safe disinfectant
leave for a few mins
rinse
then dry
will this be enough?
washing out everything completely, cage and toys etc, with a bleach solution…leave for half hour rinse off and clean again with vinegar in water solution and final rinse leave in sun, if possible, for one day
change all bedding for fresh dry clean
this is recommended as a bacterial free cleaning method and also vinegar in water is safe and non toxic…I use it as an everyday wash for my 2 huge rat cages…I like to take very good care of my rats
Whatever…my method, or yours, sounds like the hamster should be ok, but make sure you know how it got wet tail and avoid the same thing happening with the new one…good luck :>
