Trip Balance
Pancake Supper – Dividing profits between participants?
Our church is holding a pancake supper fundraiser for kids going to camp. Our goal is for the kids who participate to reap the rewards … kids who don’t participate don’t get any money toward their trip balance. We want to pre-sell tickets as well as sell tickets at the door. How can I keep track of which child pre-sold tickets, how many, etc.? I thought about writing names on the back of the tickets, but there’s a chance that a sold ticket may not actually show up the night of the fundraiser. Do I give each child a certain amount of tickets and go on the honor system as to how many they sold?
Issue each child a certain number of tickets maybe 5 to start with and have them turn the money and unsold tickets in before the day of the supper. I they sell all 5 they can turn that money in and get 3-5 more, etc. Write down who turned in how much money. For example if tickets are $5 and Johnny turns in $20 you know he sold 4 tickets and should be giving back one unsold ticket. It is good to have 2 parents you trust work together to receive money and unsold tickets so there are no mistakes or people saying my son really sold 12 tickets and you only credited him with 3. Anyone who “lost” his/her tickets simply gets that much less towards camp.
